FAQs

How often should I come to the dentist for a cleaning and a check-up?
For most of our patients, we recommend a check-up at least every 6 months, but these intervals will vary depending on the individual. The most important factor is how well you clean your teeth at home, because this has a direct affect on how quickly plaque and stains can build up. Some people tend to have more dental problems than others do, so they may need to visit the dentist more often. We always encourage patients to contact us if they have any concern, as problems can emerge outside of scheduled appointments.
I’ve noticed that my gums appear to bleed immediately after brushing: is this something I should worry about?
Yes, there could be a problem. Bleeding is an indication that the gums are inflamed and irritated, usually as a result of plaque and calculus build- up on the teeth. Gum inflammation, if left untreated, can result in bone loss around the teeth, and could lead to the eventual loss of a tooth.
I think I might be grinding my teeth in my sleep, because I wake in the morning with pain in my jaw. Is there anything that can be done to help give me some relief?
Waking up with sore jaws is an indication that you are grinding your teeth while you sleep. To eliminate this, we can make a nightguard that will eliminate grinding without causing discomfort. Grinding your teeth can come from misaligned teeth, in which case you may need to wear the guard most nights. It also is a symptom of general stress, and you may only require the guard for those times when you’re tense. We would be happy to advise you of your needs.
How can a smile makeover improve my smile?
A makeover can renew your appearance and restore function. With a smile makeover in our office, we can replace old dental work, straighten your teeth, whiten your smile, close gaps, fix breakage, and alleviate tooth pain. If you feel self-conscience about your teeth, call us. We would be happy to give you a new smile.
I don’t have a lot of money can I still improve my smile?
Many cosmetic procedures, such as tooth whitening, and cosmetic contouring and bonding, which reshapes crooked and misaligned teeth, are not very expensive and can make your smile one you are happy to show.
What is your emergency care policy?
During business hours, we try to work in emergency patients without inconveniencing scheduled patients. Call our office if you are experiencing intense tooth pain, loss of restoration, or have a tooth knocked out.
Do you accept my insurance?
Dental insurance plans can be confusing, so bring your insurance card to your appointment, and we can determine your coverage. Our practice does participate in a few PPOs, and we will file out-of-network claims as well.
I need a dentist for my children. Do you see young patients?
With pleasure. It is recommended that children begin seeing the dentist for routine care beginning at age 3. This allows us to follow your child's development as well as identify any problems early on. In addition, it sets the tone for happy dental check-ups for years to come. Call us to set up an appointment today.
I want to whiten my teeth.. are there differences between over-the- counter whiteners and professional teeth whitening?
Yes. Over-the-counter teeth whitening strips, gels and toothpastes can take months to lighten your teeth just a few shades. Professional take-home kits produce amazing results in a couple of weeks. We would be happy to consult with you regarding a whiter smile.
What payment methods do you accept?
For our patients’ convenience, we offer discounts when paying by cash or check. We also accept several credit cards and have a great outside financing option (CareCredit).
I want to thank everyone at your office! My family and I have always been treated wonderfully by the doctors and staff. The doctors are very friendly, especially with those in the family who are nervous when visiting the dentist! I recommend your dental office whenever I get the chance!
